Cathy Nelson, High School Teacher-Librarian/School Library Media Specialist
Cathy is in her 24th year as a veteran educator. She holds a bachelor's degree from Winthrop University, and two master's degrees from the University of South Carolina. Cathy is a Nationally Board Certified Teacher in Library Media for Early Childhood through Young Adult. She is married with two college-aged sons. She is an avid reader, and is involved with several professional organizations, including the South Carolina Association of School Librarians, the South Carolina Association of Educational Technology, the American Association of School Librarians, and the American Library Association. Cathy is also extensively involved in educational networking, and has presence in networks that include Teacher-Librarian Network and Classroom 2.0. Cathy strongly believes in being a life-long learner and that means staying up on technologies in an effort to provide a meaningful and relevant library media program for the school community, particularly today's youth. Melanie has fourteen years of educational experience. She taught middle level language arts for nine years and is beginning her sixth year as a media specialist. Melanie earned a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from Winthrop University and a Master's Degree in Library and Information Sciences from the University of South Carolina. Jolene is in her third year as media assistant at Dorman High School. Previosuly she worked as a media assistant in Spartanburg District 5. Jolene attended Southwestern Community College in Sylva, NC. She enjoys swimming and spending time with her children. Her motto is be true to your friends and they will be true to you.
