Cathy  Nelson, High School Teacher-Librarian/School Library Media Specialist; DHS Technology Trainer

Cathy is in her 29th year as a veteran educator. She holds a bachelor's degree from Winthrop University, and two master's degrees from the University of South Carolina. Cathy is a Nationally Board Certified Teacher in Library Media for Early Childhood through Young Adult and a Google Certified Teacher. She is married with two sons. She is an avid reader, and is involved with several professional organizations, including the South Carolina Association of School Librarians, the South Carolina Association of Educational Technology, the American Association of School Librarians, and the American Library Association. Cathy is also extensively involved in educational networking, and has presence in networks that include Teacher-Librarian Network, Discovery Education Network, and Classroom 2.0. Cathy strongly believes in being a life-long learner and that means staying up on technologies in an effort to provide a meaningful and relevant library media program for the school community, particularly today's youth.

Melanie Dillard, High School Media Specialist

Melanie began her career in education in 1994 as an English/Language Arts/Reading teacher in Chester, SC, after graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Winthrop University.   In 2004, while doing coursework for her MLIS, she began as an elementary school media specialist at Wellford Elementary School in Spartanburg School District Five. In 2006, she earned her Master's Degree in Library and Information Science from the University of South Carolina. In 2009, Melanie joined the Cavalier family at Dorman.  In addition to her duties in the library, Melanie also manages the Dorman Facebook page and the Dorman website, and is a technology trainer for the district.  She is married to James and has three daughters, twins who are 16 and a 9-year old. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, traveling, arts and crafts, and spending time with her family.
