Guidelines for Submission

• Your name should not appear anywhere on the work itself.  A teacher's name, class, or grade should not appear on any part of the work.  The attached entry should contain only the title of the work and the work.
• Each entry should have a separate email.  Please do not submit several entries to one email.
• The staff reserves the right to edit for grammar, spelling, or other corrections as they apply to standard English.  The staff will not change any stylistic devices as they apply to mood or meaning of the piece.

By submitting your work, you agree to the following terms:

• I certify that the attached piece is my original work. If it should be determined that it is not original, I realize that I could be held accountable under the school discipline policy.
• I grant permission to The Shield to print my work of literature or art.
• I also give permission to the Shield editorial staff to make editorial changes if necessary. Changes will only be made to correct spelling or grammatical errors and will not affect the meaning, mood, or theme of the piece.
